Riders will travel through the East Riding on Day One of four before reaching Doncaster at around 6.08pm.
We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to watching the Tour de Yorkshire (May 3-6), with both ITV4 and Eurosport showing live coverage backed up with highlights for those that missed it.
ITV4 has extensive live action, showing almost the entire stage on each of the four days of the men’s race, as well as live coverage of the women’s race, which precedes the men’s stages on Thursday and Friday (May 3-4) this year.
Eurosport have less live action as the race clashes with the start of the 2018 Giro d’Italia, so there’s no live coverage for stages two or four, but there’s a highlights package each evening.
ITV have their usual hour-long highlights spot at either 8pm or 9pm if you can’t catch any of the live action.
Taking in the eastern Pennines, as well as the North York Moors, the Tour de Yorkshire is one for the puncheurs and baroudeurs. It’s not all hills, though, with at least one opportunity for the sprinters along the way.
Rather than a staging ground for new talent, the race has so far proven to be a battle of established riders. Looking at the roll of honour and seeing the names of Lars Petter Nordhaug, Thomas Voeckler and Serge Pauwels gives one a good idea of what to expect.
Aqua Blue Sport come armed with a cadre of options. Irish prodigy Eddie Dunbar crashed out of the breakaway on his debut here in 2015, but the 21-year-old was in the break at Amstel Gold – his WorldTour debut – so he’s in strong form. Another option is Mark Christian, who finished seventh overall in 2017.
