Schedule: Friday, practice 9:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; Saturday, race, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)

It’s May and that means Indianapolis to the IndyCar crowd. The year’s first real competition at the Brickyard is this weekend’s with the 85 laps / 207.315 miles INDYCAR Grand Prix run on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course road course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

On track activities start Friday, May 11 with practice and qualifying with the race taking the green flag at 3:50 pm on Saturday May 12. All practice sessions and qualifying for the INDYCAR Grand Prix will stream live and on the INDYCAR YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/indycar). ABC will broadcast the race live on Saturday, May 12 (3:30 p.m. ET). Allen Bestwick will be the play-by-play announcer for ABC’s broadcast of the INDYCAR Grand Prix alongside analysts Eddie Cheever and Scott Goodyear. Pit reporters are Rick DeBruhl, Dr. Jerry Punch and Jon Beekhuis.

Power and Simon Pagenaud each have won twice on the Indianapolis road course, the only drivers to reach victory lane. Power and Pagenaud have given Team Penske three consecutive Grand Prix wins. Helio Castroneves returns to IndyCar after teaming with Ricky Taylor to win a sports car race at Mid-Ohio last week. Castroneves will run the Grand Prix before trying to win his fourth Indianapolis 500.

Pagenaud won the inaugural race in 2014 while driving for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. It was the first time his father watched him drive at the historic venue. The Frenchman also triumphed in 2016 for Team Penske, one of five wins that season on his way to winning the Verizon IndyCar Series championship.

Power sits 10th in the points and is also in need of a strong result. The 37-year-old driver of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet finished second at Long Beach, but was 21st in the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama presented by America’s First and 22nd in the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino Phoenix Grand Prix.
